View Full Version : JD dino
JDaniel 02-20-2003, 06:11 AM Here's a t-rex that's getting close to finished. Created in Lightwave/Photoshop. I've got a few tweaks and a BG plate of a forest to get. Comments or critiques?

very nice but at the end of the tail it seems like there are too many wrinkles. it just kinda goes off into a blur of wrinkles
cool, really like this one! Nice texture too, but somehow the eyes seem a bit of in the textured picture

Up close, your black spots look a little odd on around the mouth. The way the continue to the bottom jaw perfectly I mean. Vary it up and it will look less like a 3d image. You may want to turn down your lights a little bit as well. Did you paint that dino skin texture from scratch? Great job if you did man!

My image is smaller than 20000k and it won't attach. I still get the message. Why? Please help.

Pretty cool dino, but did you use a toy as a reference?
Because your T-rex has a realy big heel, something most T-rex toys have so they don't fall over. But the real foot shouldn't have as prononced a heel as yours. It makes the feet look a bit plump.
But again...pretty cool model and amazing textures.
Could you perhaps post a small image on how you layed out the mapping of the model. I'm real curious to see....

Bump map is so deep on first one. it hurts realism, especially at edges (sorry, my English sucks). Keep on going:thumbsup:

cool trex ! i will be modeling one some day and was wondering what method you used ? start with a box or did you do point by point ? also any background images you used?

I started w/ a box sebek27. Thanx. I always use bg images. I collected atleast 30 images off google in about 30 min.
I was thinking that also augustus. Thanx for the affirmation. I'm testing the displacement mapping on an incidence angle. I'm having a little trouble w/ it now. Good idea but you still have to turn up subd level.
mccordia, that makes alot of since. I'll remember that. I used ref. images though. Here's my custom uv map.
Why can't I post an image bigeer than 20k?
