Ok, I am box modeling an alien and have made loop cuts for the head, upper arm, elbow area, wrist, hand etc, now what do I do with this? hahaha this is funny eh? anyhow, I wish to take the model in segments into another app but when I save selected it exports as one... do I have to assign colors to each segment and export like that or what ? I am praying that I don't have to export each part and have to assemble in another app...

Thanks in advance...

Never mind all, I got it figured.... it would seem that trueSpace 3 imports all as one object, but Carrara, C4D etc respect the individual objects... hmmm

thanks anyways :)

you might have to use the decompose tool to break it into its different parts
then use the down and up arrow icon to step thru the heirarchy
the decompose tool looks like a stick figure made of blocks that is coming apart

Oh man, Wasa, I am in serious trouble here... I did loopcuts for the various body parts, then saved over my work rather than new files ( lesson here, when ya feel tired and make simple bonehead mistakes grab some sleep before it is too late, and ya make too many dumb mistakes like I have done )

anyhow, I hit some thing or another after setting this blue color to said model and now it exports all the grey areas but not the blue areas, and thus I am left with rings upon export... and totaly nothing where the blue is.... uggggg

any tips to get this thing back together wasa?

and thanks for the heads up re decompose...ge I read that word and thought of disinegration hehe :)

ok select the hole material in the outliner window in wings
choose select from the rmb menu while mouse is over outliner window
now select default and choose assign to selection from its rmb menu
now export the object to truespace

to return your object to one piece in wings simply choose all the parts in object selection mode and choose the weld command

cheers
