Holy %@*!
That top one is amazing.
I must say though, that the creases on the first one feel like style. On the second, they feel like smoothing errors, or just odd NURBS continuity.
Great stuff though.

detail! detail! detail! sooooo much detail!!!
reaally good! the first robot kinda reminds me of Evangelion... even the feet pads. The face looks a lot like Eva 01 (isn't this Shinji's?)
congrats!

02-20-2003, 04:41 AM
The first pic is so cool. One of the best robot modeling I've seen here.
Ed--
Son of a Bitch!!! That is truly amazing. I've seen people go overboard with detail before ...but you take the frickin' cake. I think that has got ot be one of the raddest 3d models I've ever seen.
Awesome job! :buttrock:

Wonderful work. My only real comment would be to see more added detail on the second picture. I'm sure that is the design, but there are alot of smooth parts that I'm sure could have some added details in there. The first one is amazingly rich with detail and adds to it's believability. (is that even a word?) The third pic is very nice as well. I'm not saying that the second isnt, I'd just like to see abit more added detail in some of the smoother parts. Of course, this is by no means me telling you what you should or should not do, since your skill is definately up there. (Far superior to mine). Just a suggestion that my eyes see. Wonderful work again and I'd love to see some wires.

AWESOME modeling!
Thanks for sharing this with us :) .
My celeron700 just had a seizure while imagining the astronomical polycount of these babies. :)
Can´t blame it, lil´ Kid can´t handle a model with more than 60k faces without starting a bitching session.

really nice work!
I saw your work in a 3d magazine, I think it was korean. Was amazed than and still am. The only thing that bothers me about the model is the legs on the first model, they look too thin compared to the upper body especially the upper thigh. On the beast with 6 legs the feet also seem alittle small too me.. idunno though that could just be me, I think the level of detail is incredible. Very nice work, would love to see them textured and moving.
Wonderful......like ur detail....No.1 :applause:

I'm not so sure about these pieces... I think the detail is somewhat lacking, though the textures are really astounding. I think the robot detracts from the artistry of the background, which shows real talent. I'd like to see a render of the background without the robots. Keep at it, maybe one day you'll be good at this

 amazing work! Can you say TERMINATOR 4? Although the skull brings resemblance to a kick ass Predator :)
I believe the overall concenses is that the detail is incredible. Could you tell us more about the work? How did you come up with such a detailed functional design? How long did it take to model?

nice model. the only thing i dont like is how the legs are not as detailed as the arms/rest of body, and the feet dont fit the model. good other than that.

Sweet work. Amazingly good precise shape work. A great combination / proof of your abilities.
Picking up on the screws.. they do make the model look a little 'toy' like.
Overall, they all look the sort of thing to sit on a desk/shelf and made out of plastic, as apposed to real life figures.
Have you build these models for animation? It doesn't look like the first one's head can actually move...
Great work in any case. I hope you develop them into something very worthwhile.

Nice modelling.
However, the first thing that sprung to mind when I saw the pic was that it looked like a guy in a ultra-magnetic suit had just walked through a room full of metallic spare parts and debris.
Maybe a bit too busy with bits and bobs?
I'd like to see it textured.

Wow!! An incredible piece of modelling and the attention to detail is both impressive and slightly scary.
If i had a criticism, and i'm not sure if i'm on my own here, i'd say that the amount of detail, especially on the upper half of the robot model, is too much. I think with any piece of artwork, you can over work something, and to me the robot model is conjested with detail. I'm sure most people will disagree, but to me there is a lack of focus. But this is a tiny criticism. I'm still totally in awe of the quality. Keep up the good work.

Amazing work, I love the first pic the best!
I'd fo over what I loved, but that would take all day, so here's some criticism.
If anything I would say that your organic work isn't quite as good as your robotic sculpts. I find the musculature kind of random and doesn't lend credibility to convincing me that the human/creature could move around or work properly, while your technical robotic detail is completely convincing!! so cool.
In some respects, I'd say there's too much detail and it's distracting from the overall sculpt.
Bottom line, your gadgetry is awsome! I love the style, your robotics is neat, but work a bit more on your anatomy.

I really appreciate your reply.
K serise has only bone setting without texture.
and it takes usually 1~2days per a character to make polygons on Maya.
(but first image(robot)is about 5~7 day)
I suppose that it could be difficult to do work of high polygons
but I will do my best.
I will make utmost efforts for the perfect with your good advice.
thanks a lot.

great work! wonderful designs too.
could work more on cleaningup some sharp folds which actually look like imperfect modeling rather than detailing, giving a less organinc look to the model... especially the second and third pictures... i am not saying you should have less detail.. but make your curves and dents more organic.

I realized lack of my own works comparing with my CG career, 5 years.
so I set to work in earnest 1 year ago.
Firstly, I started storyboard and sketchs on my portable note.
and some sketches were realized into 3d model from May to July last year.
also I will do the rest steadily.
I really try to concentrate on minimum part one by one for whole body.
first of all, focus on the element that can decide on individuality of
model. so I spend my energy and time on that.
also I try to make it good balanced among each elements.
it takes 1~2days to work monsters or human.
the first mechanic takes 5days for the detail.

Have you build these models for animation? It doesn't look like the first

Great work in any case. I hope you develop them into something very

of detail, especially on the upper half of the robot model, is too much. I
think with
any piece of artwork, you can over work something, and to me the robot model

is a lack
of focus. But this is a tiny criticism. I'm still totally in awe of the

If anything I would say that your organic work isn't quite as good as your
robotic
sculpts. I find the musculature kind of random and doesn't lend credibility
to
convincing me that the human/creature could move around or work properly,
while your
technical robotic detail is completely convincing!! so cool.
In some respects, I'd say there's too much detail and it's distracting from
the
overall sculpt.
Bottom line, your gadgetry is awsome! I love the style, your robotics is
neat, but
work a bit more on your anatomy.

Imaginary organic could make me crazy sometime as you mentioned.
especially, the muscular system.
I need to study organic muscle more.

I agree with everyone about your work: It´s amazing!!!! You have a very particular style too, and I have no doubt your designs will keep in our minds for long. You´ve also got a modelling master´s skills and I´m astounded with your speed. But I have some critics:
Too much details. I know that´s your "trademark" and I´m not suggesting to give it up. I only want you to realize that there is a limit for it: when details confuses and misleads the design itself.
Aesthetic issue: Have you listened about the design principle "less is more"? I´m not a defender of minimalism or zen design but a model, a picture, a film shot... should have a balanced combination of clean and busy areas. This is for keeping the eye catched and flowing (from busy to clean and vice versa). In this pics, however, you have too much busy areas, your model is a busy area in fact. And the worst is that a lot of the excessive information is unjustified.
And what about animation? I think you´ll have serious problems trying to pose your mechs... (and I´m not talking about the polycount)
Well, this is my constructive critic. Sometimes we would thank it rather than praises. But you are really good!!!!
PD: This critics aren´t valid for your moon shadow character. With this model you achieved an excellent accuracy of details, refinement and good taste overall... I hope this model is newer! waiting for textured version...

hi....wazzup
thanks for you comment
I realized lack of my own works comparing with my CG career, 5 years.
so I set to work in earnest 1 year ago.
Firstly, I started storyboard and sketchs on my portable note.
and some sketches were realized into 3d model from May to July last year.
also I will do the rest steadily.
I really try to concentrate on minimum part one by one for whole body.
first of all, focus on the element that can decide on individuality of
model. so I spend my energy and time on that.
also I try to make it good balanced among each elements.

Love the flared pants, boots, straps high-heel thing going on - the pants in general are great. The body type is cool and grounded.

Dolmuji, thanks for the stuff you posted! I don't say such things much, but you're the king of mechanics! I've seen many, but I can't find better 3d mechs in my memory. I like women and good modelling skills showing off, that"s why I'd like to see the woman you've modelled. Am I the only one who can't view the image? The soalana link doesn't work for me, I guess that's where the woman pic is, or am I wrong? I've been at soalana did a search on dolmuji, but can't find anything. Please enlighten me somebody!

That is just amazing! Sorry if I haven't read all the posts in this thread so I may repeat a few posts.
But I'd love to see them animated, (but then I love seeing anything animated).
The 1 tiny crit I can come up with is the moon shape on the girl's head, it looks a bit "detached". I expect it may work a bit better as a "subdermal" or something like that.

Fantastik work my friend...The detail is simply supurb...I see alot fo questions about veiwing some textured shots, as for me im very interested in your methods of modelling...IE, Did you do this via Box modelling, Splines, Nurbs, Patch modelling? Again, fabulous work...
