the vx1 is a lotolder then the quatro. I personally would go with the quatro, simply for the fact it is newer, and cheaper (?) hell, its only 999USD.

I just bought a cheap Geforce 2 TI card and did a Quadro conversion on it.
Now it's a Quadro 2 Pro and it works great in MAX and XSI.
Check out this link for more info.

You will encounter many 2D problems with a VX1.
As far as the quaddro DCC goes, it is much more expensive than a Geforce 3 ti500 and gives you exactly the same performance.
The only place where a Dcc will be better than a ti500 is when you are working with videos but not 3D.
It`s just my advice but I tested them and this is my conclusion.
If you want a card that will give you very good performances at a lower cost, I say go with a Geforce 3 ti 500, without a doubt.
