View Full Version : New member intro
Quadart 01-11-2007, 01:49 PM Hello everyone. I am a new member here thanks to the prodding of my good friend and longtime member here, JoelD. I've been visiting this site for some time and finally decided to jump in. I will post some work for feedback as soon as I am able. I guess a couple more posts are required before I am allowed to put up images. If anyone is interested they can view my portfolio site below. It is geared towards the science textbook market.
I also had a dragonfly image published in the November 2006 issue (US) of 3D World magazine's exhibition gallery on page 14.
Meanwhile I"ll enjoy some more of the great work on this site.

Welcome Bill!
Impressive portfolio, especially the traditional media. It's great to see the artisistic talent coming through so plainly. (The seagull caught me eye!). You have some good art chops there! I would like to follow your further move into 3D.
On the technical (body) art, like the eyeball, you listed C4D, Illustrator and PS... The bodies seemed to be based on 3D models, but some of the others, I couldn't necessarily spot the 3D elements... Not that that is bad, just curious... what is the Cinema role on some of the art that looks more like traditional Illustrator?
Nice work, and welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I should have jumped on board long ago.
Joseppi, to try to answer your question, basically what doesn't look 3d isn't 3d (usually) in the work you saw on the site. The captions on some of the images need to be more clear.
'Illustrator' means I used Illustrator to create the splines like the shapes that make up the
globe, lens and cornea of that eye cutaway for example. I don't think Ai splines can be beat
for control. The veins and fleshy textures are PS. There's a lot of PS retouch throughout to save time. I use anything handy in illustration work, unless it's style spefific.
Thanks again everyone.
PS—I must have shot JoelD 50 emails asking him what to do next with this forum stuff.
Thanks dude.
