just wondering if this feature ,also known as ''render to map'' in max and "texture baking" in lightwave is available in xsi..and what does xsi call it?

to explain texture baking is a process where you asign all your materials and textures to your geometry..and then the software will render out a new texture map complete with shadows and highlights so you can see you object rendered in 3d realtime:)

Sorry, i have very little experience with it.
Ed seems to know a lot about it.
I haven't really touched particles, passes, fxtree or rendertree yet, which makes the point that it is very easy to use on first attempt.
Try it out.

It works rather well. You can access it from Get>Property>Rendermap.
More info can be found here (http://www.xsibase.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=render;action=display;num=1045756551)

Apply it to you object. Just like a texture map. It's works best if you use a constant material underneath it.

Ed says: Apply it to the object?

Do you mean under the texture editor-clips-import clips? Thanks in advance.

Last question: How do I setup the lights for this specially for games? Should I use three point SPOT lighting or something else? Thanks again.

Yes, just like a texture.

It depends on your environment. I usually light it normally. (I.E. no added lights.)
