Hello, All

I'm in search of a good book, or other media that will help me to animate better.

I'm fairly new to animating so I can't really beat myself up too much. but I don't know the graph editor too well, I know the tools in it and what they do its just I can't seem to get animations looking good.

I remember hearing about a book Animators Gym or Workout something like that.

If anyone has some suggestions as to books that will help, I'm open for suggestions.

thanks in advance

richard williams book The Animators Survival Kit , does a good job at explaining the basic concepts. There is allso an all time favorite Illusions of Life.
Depending on what kind of software you use the best thing to do is get a simple rig, and start practising the basic concepts, there are a ton of websites that go over the Principles, try not to get caught up with software.
if i were you id animate traditionaly (on paper) thats the best way.
start doing a lot of gesture drawings if you wanna get better at animating.

the animators gym is good, but it assumes you know your way around Maya.

I've done some gesture drawing and thigs like that, I've taken a 2D animation class and grasped the concepts very well.

I'm really just being hard on myself for doing a weak aniamtion a while back, but it was my first time, I was in a rush, and I didn't teak much in the graph editor.

I just know for myself I've learned a great deal when I bought books etc.

I know my way around maya very well so I'll check out that animator gym and see what that is all about.

thanks for the help

Hey Peace,

My Animator's Gym is a training CD/DVD so it's all visual. You can find out more about it at http://www.lostpencil.com.

Happy animating!
