Anything that works in the old Director should work with the MX version afaik, as you can load up old projects (even those that have embedded w3d's) without a hitch. So... the ShockWave plugin should work for Director MX too, in theory :D

I have had no problems using the Maya 1.5 exporter with Director MX or Director 8.5. There were no changes to the 3D engine in Director MX so you should have no problem using W3D files created by Maya in either version of Director.

ok. Thanks... I've download the trial version of macromedia Director mx and all work great - exept for some video card troubleshooting- I will be very happy to do quickly navigation thru my scene with collision detection and interactivity with object - Anyone know - specified above - tutorial link?
Again, Thanks!

I just posted this in response to another thread but check out http://www.directordev.com
There's a tutorial called tunnels that has collision detection. Just change the names of the 3d members and stuff in lingo and the code should work with your scene. Let me know if you need any help on the lingo. I had to do a lot of 3d walkthroughs w/ shockwave at my last job.

Alias wavefront used to have a maya product called realtime author. That's where the interact option comes into play. I guess it didn't sell well at all cause they no longer offer it on their site. BTW Realtime author did what you want (walkthrough) very quickly. I think you just made a camera and in the interact menu labeled it as a walk camera or something.
