Hey guys,

I'm kind of new to CGsociety as well as digital art, but Im really excited about getting started. This is my first post, and first somewhat successful digital art piece. This is only a work in progress; I do have several ideas for this composition such as adding in more bridges, crisping up edges on buildings and their details, and finally beefing up the foreground a little.

I would really like to bring this picture to a completed stage, but I need some suggestions here. I'm stuck :( Thanks guys.

Hi!
First of all, welcome!
Your piece have already a good atmosphere (lighting, colors) and it's promising.
4 small suggests from me:
- Actually, the wiewer's eye will need a more remarkable element to fix on (the archi's opening on the left seems to be the most important, but the bridge on the right disturbs a bit. The composition is maybe too equilibrate beetween left and right, and we hesitate to take a direction. So, crop the canvas? for ex.
-Pehraps you have already in mind to bring another small elements to precise the scale.
- create some more define perspective lines on the background's buildings.
-and, also, you could show a smaller image in the wip (800x600 px). It's difficult to have an overall picture to comment the composition...
Well, keep it up!
and I'll look for updates
bye!

Thanks for the suggestions. I just resized the image so everybody can see it better. I completely agree with what you are saying about the focal point thing and the other bridge conflicting with it. I am going to go back and just repaint it or remove it. I am not crazy about the idea of cropping the image; I would rather just fix the bridge issues. Thanks for your help though, exactly what I needed. I will post another update once I work on this more.

Ok that image in the last thread is an updated image. I saved the iterative over the old file in my netfiles so just use the bigger one to compare how it was before.

Any more comments on this??
