what doe you mean exactly ? the lens distortion of the micro or do you mean the little bacterial stuff you look at ? if so, there are probably thousands of materials you can use, because the look all different. so which effect you wanna achieve ?

but if i guess right you`re looking for something everyone makes. so here is a little tut to get the effect (at least i hope this is the one you look for)

get a new shader, a ramp texture (without projection) and a sampler info node.

shift-drag the sampler info to the ramp and choose other. the conn editor will open. connect the facing ratio to the V Value.
drag the ramp to the color entry of the shader. now in ipr or something you should see the effect. it looks at the angle between camera and surface. you can now drive your ramp to your needs, and assign the ramp to whatever you need. so may wanna detach to the color and attach it to the transperancy (make black and white the ramp) and choose a greenish color for the shader)

hope this helps you on the way.
also look at highends shader section

You need to make a shader with very light edges, saturated colour, a bit of glow and bumpy surface.

You can find the Electron Microscope v2.0: :Erythrocyte v0.0::

Here's one I whipped up in 5 mins:
