Hi everyone,

in a number of animations done in after effects i have seen animated lines which look like they are 3d lines. they and moving in 3d and have effects found in After effects. i was wondering how tis that done. is it a plugin or a procedure i am not aware of. i am quiet new to After effects and i have to say that it is very powerful for TV related work. many thanks

THere are several ways to achieve this, usually it's a path on a 3d layer with some animated stroke or vegas effect. Trapcode offers a plugin for that purpose(3Dstroke?) and it is possible to do such stuff with particles too.

I suggest to have a look at in the After Effects tutorial section on www.creativecow.net, you will find that usefull.

Most of the times its done with the 3d stroke plugin from trapcode.
