Hello & wecome to CGSOCIETY :) . I had a look at your 3D work on your site , its not bad for someone whos new to modeling , just keep at it and you will get better as time goes by :) .

Thank you for the advice, i edited in the pictures above, hopefully that will make it easier on everyone. I'm trying to fit in modeling everyday (I go to school and work at a newspaper as a page designer/copy desk). Right now i'm trying to get down how to model a basic human shape and just get down the basics of form and function.

Hey Pagusas,

Great to see you have made a start and welcome to the industry. First of all its great to see you have made a start and are already on your way in modeling. The best way to improve I find is by raising the bench mark for yourself and CG Society is a great place to do that. Everytime I do something which I think is brilliant CGS is only one click away to humble me and make me duck my head back down and try harder so I get an even better result.

A quick comment on some of your works in particulaly the short man you have built. When it comes to building people or anatomic bipeds it's all about reference. Not just that, but also getting as close as you can, to the real thing as you can. The cheek bones in your mans face seem to be inexistant, his body doesnt have any flowing muscles just blocky structures. For a first try I have to say good job, and everyone always needs improving. Can I suggest if you are interested in getting better at character modeling that you have a close look at how faces and muscles should look on your model. Learn your loops by looks I mean how your edges run around your model. Your faces seems to have nice loops in it, just needs a bit of pushing and pulling so the cheekbones come out and such.

I love people who have the courage to post their first works up to a place like this a recieve feedback. If your are feeling really game, it might be an idea to try posting the next scene you are making up into WIP Stills (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=43) forum that way you can recieve feedback as you are building your scene. You can get to the problems that arise nice and early.

thank you for the reply, i was actually very nervous to post my first work on here, its never easy getting your work critiqued for the first time. Ive started work on a few new models (jumping back and forth between different ones involving different skills) and ill likely start posting them on the WIP boards. I know there are many talented artist on these boards, and hope to learn as much as i can from them, as i'm starting to see the class room experiance doesnt quite teach you anything beyond the basics.
