Title: Superleggera
Name: Pedro Duarte
Country: Portugal
Software: Photoshop
Hi Everybody!!
This is my latest work on Photoshop CS2
Superleggera is a hand powered vehicle concieved for handicaps unable to use their legs propperly. It's a project for college and the International Braun Prize. The render took aprox. 6 or 7 hours overall, with all the detailing and "in-the-hour" concepting of the bike. This was highly influenced by Mr. Scott Robertson's Gnomon DVD on How to render a industrial design product (bike). I guess that's all to this project, hope u like it. critics and comments are welcome...
ps: the backet seat is 3D, made in Softimage XSI by my friend Nuno Pereira, based on a sketch of mine, and under my supervision.
thank u all

Nice design. Are you going to render more views to show the real shape better? Also it does not seem to have any perspective on the wider parts (the back and bottom of the seat etc.).

now that's a cool idea. and a great rendering. it seems like you learned Robertson's lessons well !
too much scot robertson here.... The design, the curving of the elements, even the textureing - i think you should have mentioned him... ;)
But it looks very good as well! :) congrats

Nice rendering skills, and a very strange looking bicycle.
It's almost like 3d wich means you did an excellent job :)

Nice rendering indeed! The design is beautiful. I'm sure the target clients would very much enjoy riding that bycicle.

hi harvey. well, i start with a line drawing made with non-digital media. then i digitalize it and with the path tool, i create the basic shapes of what i'm trying to do, each shape in it's own layer. then, having in mind the light source (in this case is a basic overhead difuse light source) and with the preserve tranperency on, so that you wont lose the clean edges, i start brushing around wiht lighter or darker versions of the color i'm using, to give a hint of the shape. then white reflections where you think the light source reflects directly to you. you can check ou mr. scott robertsons gnomon dvd on how to render industrial products. thats where i took this technique from. in painter i can't do this but i didn't realy try to, but try to adapt it to painter if u can. if not, become a cs user lol:) . thanks

thanks Gonzalo, yes there should be more projects of this kind. it's a very delicate subject also due to public preconcept, and making an object for an handicap look cool is important because of that. sab but true...

Very nice design and very inspirational for me. Nice marriage between art and engineering design in my opinion.
