Hello!

This is a campaign project I completed earlier this year for a real estate agency here in Sweden. Idea required rooms that transform into one another during a camera move. Time slice effect for the characters was also part of the requirement. Completed with 3ds max8 and Vray.

I experimented with photogrammetry for scanning real people and extracting textures. This technique was not used though.

Comments are very welcome!

I have to say I spent some minutes just trying to figure out what the differences between the first 3d/original comparison was and what 3d stuff you composited in the footage until I realised that you rebuilt in all in 3d!

That is most extrodinary work!

hehe..thank you Creature...maybe I was a bit unclear in the description =)

Oh and btw, did you manually rebuild it all from scratch or did you use cameramapping / image based modelling / texture extraction methods?

I rebuilt all of the interiors (models, textures, lighting and animation) by taking allot of reference photos and meassurments from the actual locations ...for the people I used cameramapping. I shot the people onset so that I could seamlessly blend them into the 3d footage later regarding the light. I then rebuilt meshens, rigged and posed them and then used camera mapping. I did some research on photogrammetry but since the animation is so exhagerated that wouldnt work (multiple camera projection is a hassle and would take longer)...so i figgured that i would just build it.

Awesomely good.
The lights setup is simply great.

VRAY ROCKS ROCKS TO THE CORE.

Can you explain regarding,

The camera mapping and a how did you work on it.
How does the scene match the exact placement of the furnitures.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Inxa, sorry for the late reply .... been busy with work. The camera mapping technique was only applied to the people. Actually I used camera mapping to fix a flickering texture on the blue sofa too, so i reused my rendered image to do that. The very technique used was the very same you would use for any sort of camera mapping. Split your image into layers and apply to different parts of a mesh/meshes.

The scene matches the original photograph regarding position and angle of objects in relation to camera by using the rotoscope technique. You match up your camera with the photograph by adjusting camera properties according to the real one (lens, position, rotation). Hope that helped.

Cheers!
