I am trying to make a head using NURBs patches in Maya, but am having some problems. All the head models I have seen so far seem to use a topology similar to the custom setup here:

http://coldfusion.art.msstate.edu/camenisch/thehumanhead/NURBS.html

Are there any tutorials about doing this specifically (I do not want to use Polygons or sub-d's) - specifically how would you get the mouth setup - using square or boundary does not produce the same patch as here. Would it be better to build a mouth and then connect it to the eye with projected tangents? Also this seems to be 3 sided??!? patches always have to have 4 sides don't they?

Or do I REALLY have to buy the Gnomon DVD's ;) ?

thanks

Go to the tutorials sticky thread. You'll probably find more tutorials than you need in there, and links from the links. It's an endless cycle.

But if your looking for spacifics this is a good place to search. http://www.maya3d.dk/links/tutorials/

There are thousands of tutorials, and answers in there.

As for the Gnomon DVD's All I can say is I think they are a great instructional tool, and a valuable resource.

that's where I got that link from. I hyave looked at the tutorials thread, but haven't really found what I need. Plus there is a hell of a lot to go through - most of which is not relevant to what I am looking for (good stuff overall though).
