Hi,

Currently I am at home, and my connection is SLLLOW..
so I couldnt see the example you refer to.

I think I know what you are after, and it's very easy to
do in XSI.

In the material node, let's take phong for example,
under the RGB values of the reflection, there are two
sliders, one <Samples> and I can't remember the name
of the other :) Glossy or something (there are two similar sliders under the Transperancy RGB values as well, that do the same thing for the Transperancy)

The first slider determines how strong is the effect (i.e blurry
Reflection/Transperancy) the Samples slider, determines
the quality of the render. For preview try using samples of 3
(you would notice that the blurry effect is noisey)
For final render crank the <samples> slider up.. try 6, 8,10
and maybe even more.. Just remember the Higher the samples
value, the longer the render :)

Goodluck

I tired "Glossy"
but Glossy parameter is noisy not blurry.

well i tried it.

i had to turn the AA samples of the scene right up to get it smooth(er). i also put the gloss samples to 40 (i dont know if that will make much of a differance)

this image took ages to render (actual size) i really dont know an other way to reduce the noiseness of the gloss (unless thats the look you want)
