Unlike most X-Men tales that deal either with the human-mutant hatred or some otherwordly impossible menace,The Proteus Saga from the glorious days of the Chris Claremont/John Byrne partnership really depicted one of the main reasons why the X-Men were created for: to counter the mutant threat.

Here,we are given a proof that mutants in fact CAN be dangerous when Proteus, a young lad with the ability to distort reality and the need to possess human bodies (which he feeds on) escapes his containment cell in Muir Island and gets literally his hands on his daddy´s car keys...and shoes... and clothes...and body.

After a lifetime of emprisonment, this unfortunate result of a rape of one of the X-Men´s secret collaborators is hate in it´s most pure form and in a gruesome manhunt accross the gothic inner landscapes of the UK he makes a point in showing them bleeding heart X-Men why sometimes, killing is the best remedy.

Actually, Proteus was the son of Joe McTaggert, former british navy officer and Moira McTaggert, scottish scientist who works on the dreaded Muir Island doing undercover mutant research to help Prof X´s cause.

In the aftermath of their divorce, Joe raped Moira and left her pregnant of Proteus, a vampire-like mutant without physical form who feeds on human lifeforce by possessing them.

The manhunt was so scary, ruthless and brutal that left even tough-guy Wolverine (of all the people!) shivering like a little girl.

I tell you, this saga done on film would beat all X-Men, Alien, Aliens and Exorcist combined.

(Of course not, but I´m just dreaming here... :) ).

I cant wait till a Silver Surfer movie comes out, i heard the script is being written now (supposedly), but since it would be the first movie, it would be when silver surfer left thanos, what i want to see is when thanos get the infinity gauntlet and kills everything and everyone in the universe BUT lady death and silver surfer. My exposure to the Xmen comic books were limited. I was more of the fan of the old cartoon before they made a rebirth of the new one with better animation and lighting.

eliseu - Actually, getting whipped by Rebecca in that skin tight blue outfit might be a little too exciting for me. :cool:

Silver Surfer... hmmm... only had a few of those comics. Played the nintendo game tho. lol

The Punisher movie was an entire joke to the comics. No real drama and action. It became an immediate B-movie. Though I have caught it once in a while on regular cable. Just for laughs I watch it. If they would have made it a darker flic. Much like the ones that are being released now (Dark blue, Training Day, Se7en), and changed up the casting a bit, it would have rocked the box office.

As for a Ghost Rider movie.. Mmmm... Flaming skulled Harley Davidson Rider... You just KNOW Harley is gonna jump at the chance at that movie. As for the head in CG. Going the realistic route in rendering the head wouldn't look right. It would need to be stylized a bit so that the "coolness" factor would go up.

Captain America as a new film? Hmm.. Might work since he's a hero that would take over at the loss of having Superman in a wheel chair. Reeves was the best Superman of all, despite the downhill curve of the last couple movies. Kept the comic style alive. Which that was the downfall of the Lois And Clark series too. The writers weren't trying hard enough. At least in "Smallville" there's some chance that Superman can still live on..... like the Star Trek serieses'ses...

On a side note, when I heard the Superman music playing for the Kangaroo Jack trailer (didn't know that it was for K.J. at the time)... I was thinking: "Damn! Another Superman?! YEAH!" Then that damn trailer just had to keep going.... *sigh* No Superman movie this year I guess. Made me wanna pick up the soundtrack(s)/DVD pack to check them out sometime.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand.. Other Comic or Xmen characters I'd like to see in a future movie :

Darkside
Jubilee (besides the cameo in Xmen1)
Beast (Where's the brainiac scientist of the Xmen anyways?!)
Armageddon (or whatever his name is that's practically a god)
Brainiac (Superman shouldn't be the only one to fight him)
Green Lantern (Movie already in the works, I've seen on the net - do a search, you'll see)
Batman Beyond (Batman 5 is in the works somewhere, just a script is all it is so far.. but would love to see the future version pop it's silly head out)
