My wife and I went to see the new movie Rocky Balboa movie the other day, so I am doing a tribute to his original trainer Micky Goldmill using my favorite line of his. I just started this today and I will post my progress throughout. Crits are welcome, and the harder you can be the better, as I am trying to improve my animation reel.

here is the quicktime

Hey. I think your poses can be a lot stronger. Right now the whole thing is a bit mono tone with movement throughout the whole thing. You might play with the camera angle a bit more, it feels a bit bland for the characters mood. Cheers

Yes, I agree that I need to hit some stronger poses.

I've made more progress -

yeah, its looking better. I'd still play with the camera more. Try playing with the focal length. As for the animation, its feeling a bit floaty overall.

His right hand has some funky rotations going on. Feels like its animated in Ik. Maybe you'd get better results in fk. Also you could hold it in a few poses. Like when he says "Like the guys says" his hand could hold there for a second while his body is moving into the next pose.

when he says "eat lightning" his spine feels choppy. You could have his spine just moving forward while his hand does the two accents.

when he take a step forward I think his body needs to shift over his left foot more.

just a few thoughts. Cheers

Thanks! I'm going to spend tonight working on some of those issues. It's nice to have fresh eyes looking at it too.
