View Full Version : Seams.
Dark Alchemist 02-18-2003, 05:41 PM When you instance an object how do you get rid of the seam?
I have tried and tried and can't figure it out.
Thanks.

I'm assuming you are using polygons, right? Combine the two objects together and then merge the vertices. If it is a subdivision surface I think you can do this in one fell swoop.

Well, I am using CPS and I don't know how to make my head into an object so I can texture etc but when I render it with the cage around it it has a visable seam.

What I would do, if I were using CPS, is delete the high poly version of your half-a-head. So all you have is your low poly cage. Then I would take that low poly cage and duplicate it (with a scale of -1 on X, assuming that your head is to be mirrored across that axis). Then I would use Polygon->Combine, that will make the two separate polygon objects into one. Then I would marquis select each vertex at the seam (it will look like there is only one, but there will probably be one on top of another - you can check in the channel box under the shape, click on CVs click to show and you should see two vertices). Then select Edit Polygons->Merge Vertices. That should get rid of one vertex. Do this for each vertex on the seam. Then I would run CPS on the final mesh to get your high poly object. That should get rid of your seam. Hope it helps.
