Hiya all

This is my serious character work (Cartoonish :hmm: ) that I plan to animate in the future. Its actually for my uni work, we're required to model a character so we'll rig him in the coming months. It's suppose to be a Maya work but I am using Max to model and Maya to rig.
Thanks to my no 2d skills, I have no concept design

I have a low and hi-res. for both in game and cinematics.

It started like this:

but then I decided to model him in nude, so I can apply a cloth later.
Low Poly:

This one is if I kept that pants and boots as part of the turso

Low poly is 2762tris without head.

cheers

By the way, he's a big hippy guy, that's all we know of him so far :D He just won't tell us he's name

I personally wouldnt model the palms facing forward, at some point you'll probably have to put the arms in a relaxed pose and the mesh is going to twist horribly.

If you dont like your concept maybe googling a few pics for inspiration?, like the dad from the invincibles (and other cartoony stuff) would help.

Thanks Psyk0

At first I modelled him in a relax T pose, then I was looking around in the CGPortfolio and saw you work, and though, hay why not make his arms just like yours :D but it ended up facing farward :argh:

Here's a new one:

Just the arms is relaxed, nothing more

nice progress so far. one thing i would reccomend lookign at is some examples of facial modeling with edge loops. as of right now your face seems rather grid like and wouldnt animate as niceley as one with proper topology. keep at'er!
Cheers

Hmm his forearms should bend from front to back, not up to down, makes his pose look very weird (like his arms are broken). The head is pretty good, altho he suffers from pinched mouth syndrome.
