Hey guys,
thnx for the great compliments......its not the first time i heard the salvador dali name drop on my picture.... i take it as a huge compliment since that guy is immensely famous with his work.
My text was a bit short with it since i got the same message that i had to many characters when posting this so i shortend it....here is the long version:
After i was placed in the "Digital art masters" book vol 1 i was asked if i wanted to place something else for the vol 2 book wich is coming up. I wanted to create something new since i haven't gotten alot of private work done lately with all the normal work being done.
So..... i started a new scene... since i had some time constraints i wanted to make something simple yet try to create a nice scene. I got an idea of some windmills and other objects bending, tired of work (dont ask me how:) ). After some work i showed my rough concept to a friend and he came up with the current title "gravity is overrated" wich i kinda liked.
I made it with 3dmax 9 and the new 1.5 vray and some photoshop for postprocessing. I really like well lit places and the bright scenes i make reference that. Other than that it kinda speaks for itself.... several techniques were used for modeling and the grass consist of (15.000) scatter objects.
I wanted to make a semi realistic render so it was not my main issue to realy work out the details in textures like dirt etc... This also gives this scene a sort of clean look wich i liked (sorta like product illustration)
there are still some things i would change now i look back at the image but i posted it already ... mabey in the future il do some touchups but for now i have to go on and do some other work.
greets,
Niels

you know what's funny - the gravity bends large metal structures, yet the grass is stanging stiffer than ever :). still a great piece.

wonderful idea
but i think it the gravity will be like this power
it must affect on the clouds , thay must be neer the ground
or there is no clouds because the water can't rise to the sky because of the high gravity
how did you make the street material with texture ? would you show the sitting ?.. i like it.
i tkink u will take the 4th award ^_^
good luck

Mooi moooi, lekker!!
it reminds me of the dutch landscape...of course not for the sun
Great and original
Hey man, very nice piece. Digging the lighting. But the rotorblades on the windmills look a bit awkward. Not exactly like the real ones. But the idea is really nice.

wybl: i absolutely agree with your comment about the blades of the windmills... they should be differnt....its one of the points i would have to change if i were to make a touchup round on this image..... its just ....i want to move on:)
thnx for the comment.

nice concept. this is well done. The render si quite good. perhaps the grass could be better but it does not really matter. The idea is here and this is the most important. So very cute !

Very nice. It sort of reminds me of the Picasso painting Melting Clocks.
