Hullo

Followed this forum since it began, but this is my first posting of work.

It's the first pass at this dialogue I've chosen (no blinking yet) But before I go ahead and start going over it again I hoped I could get some fresh eyes and ideas on it.

He seems to need some more weight. He would fall over if he were to be positioned like that. You should lean him over and center the arm like a kind of weird pogo stick.

Yeah, you defintely need some hardcore weight shifting in there. His ears are so big that I'd expect them to move move as his head does too. Keep tweaking

Looking better but he still needs to center his gravity (weight) over the arm that is supporting him.
It looks as if he has an invisible body supporting his weight and his arms are leaning on the boulder.
When he first lifts his arm off the boulder, try shifting his COG over the right arm before he lifts his left hand. Right now his arm just lifts off.
Also, adding more expression in his eyes/eyebrows will help make a more convincing preformance. The lips are a little stiff right now. Perhaps have a greater area around his mouth be affected with your blend shapes.

Keep posting!

Ok here's my super crit of the evening. I'm just gonna lay out all the things I see. It's a good start and an interesting idea.
I like him. Not sure if you need those big ears, they don't really add anything to him and my eye keeps wandering up to them.

About the animation. They're right about the weight and cog. I also can see that invisible body, weird.. Try lying on the floor on your stomach, then raise your body up supporting with your arms, you have to imagine your torso and legs as dead weight, then try shift from one arm to the next. It's near impossible not to shift over the supporting arm, and you might even tilt and not stay vertically straight. Also the easiest way to support weight is with a straight leg. His arms/legs are never straight benieth his head, and they are also very thin. He doesn't look strong enough keep his arms controlled and bent through out.

His hand poses are good, but I find the animation a bit wonky. "one of those" his left fingers pop, "if I offered you" there's an inbetween pose that's unnaturally distracting. His arms look IK animated to me. This is one of the reasons I prefer just to animate the bones. IK can end up looking like a puppet and is tricky to get lag on the forearm. Also watch when his arms straighten, they're popping. You could probably get a bit more emotion out of him if you gave him some shoulders. Facial animation needs some work. Eyes tend to dart when you look around not wander. So if he's gonna do an eye shift try doing them over 2 frames, large direction changes usually include a blink. It's hard to breakdown the lip sync cuz he's moving around alot. You could do a render of just the head close up and we could super tweek it? My overall impression of the facial animation is it's a bit stiff and the shapes and jaw are not always hitting right. But in other areas it's working. So I think you can do it you just need to frame by frame the mouth along with the sound. I'd keep working on it it's a great leaning experience and a tricky character to animate. Can't wait to see more.

Hi there

Thanks for the crits over the past days, Much appreciated.
There is a quick update here
www.moonmunki.com/Bleeble_Wells5.avi (http://www.moonmunki.com/Bleeble_Wells5.avi)

Size about 6 Mg

Have not had much time, hence the slowness of updating, but I've tried to quickly fix this weight problem with this fella. I've made his arm mostly straight as suggested and centered him a bit more. His ears are screwed at the moment as I did'nt have a chance to update them as well.

Will have another one up shortly
Cheers :)
