I have been fighting with rigid bodys for a while now and can't seem to get them to work at all.
I'm trying to add dynamic objects to a character rig using hinge constraints, but the constraint screws up every time I play the animation.

I have a rigged and animated character which has a passive rigid body parented to it. From here I have a active rigid body constrained to the passive rigid body with a hinge constraint. I set up the rigid bodys after the animation so no animation is changing after the rigid bodys have been created. This simple set up should make the rigid body hang from the passive rigid body and swing around following the characters animation, however it swings around in the wrong directions not following the hinge constraint very well. At the end of the animation the hing constraint is pointing in a new direction?

Why is this so hard to set up? I've done this in the past on earlier versions of maya and don't remember having any of these problems. I'm using maya 7 at the moment.

Has anyone else had probelms like this with rigid bodys and have some advise or possible sugestions to trouble shoot this?
