Are there anyone with expirience with those two cards, or at elast are there few test to compare 9700pro and fireGL8800 - which one is better under maya?

the fireGL by far. radeon cards are certainly not built for 3d applications. these are gaming cards and have no support for features like dual-sided shading and lighting, multiple hardware lights, wireframe accelleration and anti-aliasing, etc, etc, etc.

and no, i'm not going to cover soft-modding either.

i'd go for a quadro. 9700 pro is rather dated. I'd go for a fire GL out of the 2. if u want it for games just get a geforce mx LOL.

9700pro is older than 8800?
And which one is better with full lights and textured high poly count scenes? :)

the Fire GL 8800 is based on the old 8500 gaming card. the Radeon 9700 is newer. it's professional equivalents are called Fire GL X1 and Z1.

however, i don't know how it's drivers work with Maya. you might mod it to a Fire GL using Rivatuner and saving A LOT of money, but it's not secured how long Unwinder will keep up support for that card battling ati's anti-mod drivers.

question was simple: which card have better perfomance with maya: 9700pro or 8800? nothing else. I don't need history of any card, just comparing these two. So, does enyone knows?

WHICH CARD HAVE BETTER PERFOMANCE WITH MAYA?

Maybe if you read the posts about "SEARCHING" and used the "SEARCH" function, you'd find lots of stuff while "SEARCHING" this forum.

Quadro FX is the most modern, which is why he said R300 is dated. :-)

They both suck. :-)

Again: I realy don't need any personal I-LOVE-THIS-CARD-AND-THAT-ONE-SUCKS. Just if anyone have expirience with both with maya. Which performs better. And about "SEARCHING", there is same problem as it is now. There are a lot's I-LOVE-THIS-CARD-AND-THAT-ONE-SUCKS and not a one simple answer on simple question. Also couldn't find benchmarks for these two at the same time, onlly those like radeon vs. nvidia.
So please, if you don't know, or don't have any info about queston, or just dont't have anything usefull to say, don't put any junk answers. In that way every forum would be much more usefull, and for any question that anybody ask you would have few, and maybe only one but usefull answer, and not 2-3 usefull answers with another junk pile of 10-20 useless posts.
Right? :)

Radeon will be faster in games.

FireGL will be faster in graphics applications.

It's that simple.
