Title: Lady Bird
FAQ: NO, she's NOT my mother-in-law! :)
02-18-2003, 10:43 AM
Pretty dark, isn't it? Could you maybe get a lighter background? As always it would be nice to see a wire.
It kinda looks like a painting, you could frame that :D Cool!
02-18-2003, 10:53 AM

Wow-she has really personality!
I like the feathers around her neck and the stylized appearance!
Cool, love to see more characters of that kind.
02-18-2003, 11:30 AM
Excellent work:thumbsup: Brighten it up a bit so we can see it in all its glory:bounce:
02-18-2003, 11:32 AM
Hmm, yes I likes that I does. And it's perfect the way it is; the darkness really adds focus to the face. Well done indeed.
02-18-2003, 11:35 AM
 Excellent detail and mood !!! . I really like the dark mood and colors .
P.S : Have u made any blend shapes (morph targets ) for her ?

02-18-2003, 11:44 AM

02-18-2003, 12:08 PM
So you did that great rhinocerous!
Great work, and a brilliant character!
btw - I love the darker lighting.
The texturing is so nicely harsh - like cellophane paper.
Is that all UV'd? Or procedural?
02-18-2003, 12:11 PM
the lighting and texturing are great.
the whole scene looks very harmonic.
02-18-2003, 01:11 PM

02-18-2003, 01:39 PM

Thanks for the comments. Here are some answers for the questions.
The picture is really dark a little bit, as I can see it now, but when I checked it out on my computer in photoshop, it was lighter, also on my computer at home it had another colour, so I couldn't decide which way I should correct it.
The hires version can be found under the following address aloung with all my works:
The texure is made by bodypaint and photoshop.
Sorry for the wrong title, next time it will be ok.

Simply beautiful dude, even amongst all the great work here, this is my favorite in a while. So much personality!
What did you use for reference?

You Have A Very Great Style Man, Everything Is Very Well Done ! :D
(if you just had put a BACKLIGHT for the Lady...)
02-19-2003, 12:11 AM
She's like a retired flapper. I think she'd fit well into a 1930's setting, well since she's retired make it 1940's. Ummm, she could also be a madam. You could stick her in New Orleans around the same time period, maybe earlier. Just some random input.
02-19-2003, 12:16 AM
awesome work! she reminds me of an old owl, Or an old eagle. Very bird-like. Love the sylized look!
02-19-2003, 12:38 AM
I think that it is brillant, but I imagine ur already aware of that. I was wondering if you designed this character as well and if so if you might post that drawing. Other than that I would love to get any tips on how you went around making the skin.
02-19-2003, 01:49 AM
wow.... It's so unique! Amazing stuff! so expressive...
02-19-2003, 01:52 AM
Very cool...I like it very much!
Beautiful work in Cinema 4D! Way to go!!
nice work....reminds me of that parrot fish i had a while back.
but the cool thing is it has that old masters painting feel...
not very in as far as what most people dig out here on the forum...like tech stuff or cars or space ships and what not.
defintly cool looking.......
(gotta get back to painting and forget this mouse and menu stuff)

02-19-2003, 05:29 AM
very nice art man! i think it's perfect...how she looked at the camera like that...that look on her face. it's amazing.
her character is so vivid.
you should post some wires though.
how did you do the textures? did you paint them or are they procedurals?
very good! keep it coming
02-19-2003, 05:43 AM
wow, hot. :)
it's got a sort of gothic burlesque/vaudeville-style. and i can't say that i wouldn't love to see some more of this one.
i wonder though, if Remi is right... i think he is. some hair coming out from under that hat of hers would probably give it more realism, and it looks as though your a bit after the "charicature"/real character-look.
take care, and show us more :)

clearly you used a bump map... did you also use a displacement map? Some of those wrinkles really trench!
I told the other members in the C4D forum that I wanted to be like you, he he he.

I love everything about this image, and when I saw the full res one I loved it even more :) you always had a thing with textures that really shouts out at you. I especially loved the rhino texture you did and emailed you on that actually :).
All in all amazing, and she kinda reminds me of Cruella deville :D I'll link your gallery pic in your first post so peeps won't have to click on a low res link :)

Amazing model and scary looking woman......... yeeiiiissshhh!
02-19-2003, 04:00 PM
Sorry for the delay, but I always have to ask a collegue to help me with English.
First of all, thanks for the award. Also, thanks for all the comments. Here are a few more answers:
I usually work with classical Box modelling.
I also have thought about her having some hair, but since she has a serious look, it would have not fitted her.
As a reference, I use my own draws.
Her skin is handpainted by bodypaint, it is not procedural, and there is not displacement map on it.
02-19-2003, 05:07 PM
How did you do the feathers? Excellent work!
02-19-2003, 06:11 PM
very nice, it definitely shows emotion, i really like the texturing. however, on the second post with the brightness turned up a bit, it seems like the right side of her face gets a little washed out. maybe a little too bright, but it doesn't even matter when you can just look at the hires version.
02-19-2003, 09:37 PM
Excellent texturing man !
The facial expression is fabulous, very beautiful work :airguitar
02-19-2003, 11:15 PM
