hey man that looks really realistic, perfect texturing and his skins really looks the best (well, realistic than!) maybe make his eyes just a bit less glossy and his zip on the sheek has a bit of the unrealistic in its own way, maybe add a little noise...

Robert is cool, Robert 3d is coolest :buttrock: :buttrock:

we should have a:beer:

Yep, your composite does needs a little blur and noise.

Otherwise brilliant modelling and texturing. :)

curious, I've been think I might eventually have to learn another 3d package just to have some experience, since alotta big houses use Maya, I am leaning towards that. I use LW exclusively now.

How is compatiblity, I see you modelling in M, and rendered in LW.

Do you prefer or do you think render looks better out of LW?
Why didn't you just render in Maya? don't they have renderman?

hopefully not too many questions, and I know most answers are 'what ever your comfortable with' and that type of thing.

looking for your opion after using both!!!!!n thx

ohh, sorry forgot, IT LOOKS GREAT!!!!

(others pls. not a software bashing post, lets not start)

Very nice!

Did you only model the head? Because in the composite the rest of the body looks nice, but his face ned som blurring and obviously a noise filter.

Otherwise...

Gir is right,

there has to be some noise in the compositing to fit more with the background.

Apart from that it looks very good.

WoW!My god!Robert De Niro is here!?:buttrock:

Obviously you only did the head and render without the hair then paste it into the shot from <<Casino>>,am I right?

Great modeling.Espesialy the mouth and the chin.

And great skin texture, too. But I think the skin on his nose is not that quality as the rest of the face. And the eyes,is the least like De Niro part.I think you might wanna work more on that?

And why don't you do the hair stuff?I mean the hair that's pasted on his head is ok.It's acceptable. But the eyebrows are really poor for the model.Hope you fix that.

Great work!

thanks for all the comments guys
I was mainly trying to get the model to match De Niros face proportions ( reason for the composite)

The model was done in polygons in about 6 hours, and basically just tried to get the structure flowing properly.
I still need to work on some of the lighting and texturing,
Ill post some updates when i get a chance.

roguenroll - I love LW the best, but the reason i started getting into maya was for to learn nurb patch modeling. Its a must to get into big film studios, but i go back and forth between the 2 its a good advantage to use more than one package. I have never used Renderman, but LW render is perfect for me.

The proportions are really good.

You guys DO realize that only the FACE in that pic ois CG, right?

What's really going to creep us out is when you get some good morph targets set up and make him move his face like deniro. that has serious OOooOoOoOoOoooo potential.

sweet model man, and i think the comp is ok, mainly what the others pointed out, uhhmmm, maybe a little on the eyebrows? but the texturing's great!

I like it. The composite needs to be dirtied up so it fits in with the rest of the plate. It also reminds me that the real Bobby D is much much older looking now. Oui his face is whethered now.

great model, i really think you did a good job on the model and texture. the eyebrows stand out to me though, like they are too thick and dont thin out at all at the ends, but as you mentioned you mainly concentrated on the modelling and i think you did a great job.:)

Apparently I'm the only one that noticed this, but it is quite blatantly obvious... his head is too big. Far too big in fact. His neck appears to match up correctly but it looks like he's been pumped full of air or something. Other than that, it looks great, except for the afformentioned need of noise and dirtiness. So, shrink that head and it will be totally awesome!

[EDIT] I looked at it again, since no one else seems to have noticed what I am talking about, and the head may be the right size but it looks like maybe its up too far, it's either his neck is too long or his head is too big. Play with it, see what you come up with.
