Well, this is my first most in these forums, so I might as well submit myself and my model to critique. It isn't done yet (notably lacking doors windows and interior along with anything resembling wheels or drivetrain), but I was wonder what else I show do to the body, if there is anything I need to fix, that sorta thing.

well here she is:

Nothing? no comments? no critique? no blatant put downs? I mean, I know I'm new and my car is far from perfect, but still..........

Not to put you or your model down, but the Audi has been done so many times, people are probably getting tired of giving out crits for the same old model over and over again. Why does every one model the Audi!?

Also, it's kind of hard to give crits to an incomplete car, because all of the parts work together for the over all look.

Anyway, the roof line from the side view doesn't look perfectly round, the very top looks like it has been pulled out just a bit to much.

The front bumper doesn' t look completely smooth and round at the bottom either, there is a part that sticks out a little (more towards the wheel fender)

The hood line in front and the body by the headlight look abit to rounded, maybe make the edges a bit more crisp?

On most of the sharp bends (like around the headlight and grill) the corner seems to reflect a bit odd, maybe adding another subdivision level would help? Also, the rear wheel fender looks a bit segmented, maybe another subdivision there as well.

Hope some of that helps! Keep it up! (and then choose a different car to start on!) :hmm:

Actually this is the first tutorial that I found regarding modeling a car, since then I have gotten blueprints for others cars. The Audi is a nice looking car and a very popular tutorial due to it's distribution and representation on the major 3d sites on the internet (go ahead, just type in "3d studio max car tutorial" and see what you come up with).

I know it isn't complete (I've doing this for over a month now and can't convince myself to complete the model until I am happy with the base body) but I am trying. You know whats really sad though? I've been using 3dsmax since 1998 and I still suck ass when it comes to complex modeling (I seriously need to buy a book with tips, tricks and tutorials).

Yeah, that roof has been giving my problems since day one, I've been thinking of making it topless but don't want to model the extra detail inherent in a convertable design.

Just saw that, I really wish max would come with percision beizer controls.

Thanks!

(If I don't get the results I want with this car soo I'm probably gonna scrap it and try to model an A4 jetta).

Actually I happen to know that there is a very good and detailed car tutorial that does not model the Audi, it models a Fiat 500. It's done by this wonderful guy called Karabo who was nice enough to take the time to write it.

Take a look at it and see if you like it.
