Hey everyone,

I have a very newbie question to ask that I am hoping you can all help me with. I have already animated a few bouncing balls, but I am sure that they way I am doing is a very round about way, and I am sure that there is a better way to do them. Here are the questions I have pertaing to animating a bouncing ball:

1- Where should I be putting my breakdown, or main key frames? Should I just be keying in the top and bottom of the balls bounce and letting the rest be inbetweened and adjusted in the graph editor? What about squash and stretch? How should I key those in, should it be while I am keying in the top and bottom of the balls bounce, or added in after the main bounce is done? I guess a simpler question would be what is the minimal amount of keys I should have?

2- Where should my pivot be for my ball? Should I leave it in the center, or should I move it to the bottom of the ball?

If any of you could help me with this it would really be appreciated, I want to make sure I am doing this the right way. If any of you have a file of an example, or know where I could find one that would be great. I am using Maya.

Thanks again,

jpa

Draw it out in thumbnails first. You'll figure it out all by yourself that way. Good luck.
