Title: The Gate
Name: Jørgen Bork
Software: 3ds max, AutoCAD, Photoshop, VRay
Here is my latest work, "The Gate". The image is inspired by the blockbuster movie "Stargate".
Everything's done with 3dsmax 8.0 (using VRAY 1.5 as render). The Gate itself was modeled in AutoCAD.
My goal was to create a desert morning scene. Vray's new sun/skylight was used as light.
The scorpion, the bird and lens flares was done in Photoshop.

The modeling and rendering look nice, but I wonder a bit about that eagle and lense flare.

I don't mind the lens flare, people tend to have a phobia of them but I think it works fine and doesn't look tacky here. But the eagle definitly looks out of place. Other than that, I like it, nice lighting.

I was wondering a bit about the swirl/wave thingy that's going on in the gate it self. I can't pinpoint what's not right, but it seems as if doesn't there so well...
Besides that, it looks nice! Especially the new VRay feature :)

What isn't right is how its constructed. The event horizen of a Stargate isn't like that....here (http://homepage.mac.com/david_of_mac/.Pictures/Stargate/Yard_Gate_2_on.jpg) is a good close-up of what its supposed to look like.
Other than that, you got a good thing going on, keep it up!

Hmm, your water reflection needs a little more work, but thats if your trying to base everything of the Movie Stargate. And it need to be a little more random. but if that wasnt your intentions, my bad :3
But everything is still looking gud :D

In my opinion, the edges of the gate need to be rounded, if you look at the gate in the movie its edges are rounded a little bit. and the gate shound be a bit darker with light dust on it. other wise the modelling is great **
