hi i'm trying to do the vehicle tute over at http://www.gignews.com/kappmarch02.htm

anyway when I try to make a point constraint from IK Handle to the WheelCtrl curve everything seems okay but I can't move the wheelctrl curve therefore I cant move the tyre.

If I do wheel ctrl -> ik handle the ik's go all crazy like below

please help

haven't done that but are you sure you don't constraint the ctrl to the ik ?

well in the tute it says 'the ik to the control' so that when u move the control the tyre and ik etc. follow.

?

yeap thats right but did you select the objects in the right order ? you can control this in the outliner. there should be an ik handle parented under the ik. if it's under the ctrl then you selected the objects in the wrong order.

you can't move your control right !? are the translate attributes keyed (means locked by an animation) ??

yeah i can move my control fine, when it isnt contrainted to the ik. I did a freeze transform at the start...would tht have anythign to do with it?

im a bit of a noob so i don't know whether this would effect it

so do i understand it right now, that without the constraint you can move freele ??

that means you have constraint the ctrl to the ik. that's wrong. you need to constraint the ik to the ctrl. select the ctrl, shift sel the ik and do point const.

freeze transform doesn't influence this at all.

okay cool..Ill try all this stuff at school tomorrow and tell you then if there is any more problems..cheers.

I really want to get this rig down...I have a feeling wheel rotation is going to be a pain in the butt. Everything always seems to go right for me then just collapse at the end. Hopefully this will not be the case for the construction of this rig. :)

thanx for the help so far.

do this to the very end (the rig). as i said, never done this one but i guess it will help you get started. even if i think that you should better start with some basic stuff before doin crazy things.
