View Full Version : Walkcycle shortcut
wetworx 12-31-2006, 09:32 AM Had some questions on walkcycles....
If I needed to have a character take 10 paces across the screen, is there a way to animate 2 paces and cycle the rest using those 2 paces? or would i have to animate each stride myself (or at least physically copy and paste it)?
curious to know what process people use in animating scenes? for example, block the main motions (estimating strides) then going in and animating the full stride, etc....
thx

depends on the package for specefics but I would guess that if nowhere else than there should be an option to cycle in the menu of your curve editor.
otherwise use the help file and search for the term cycle. It'll definately come up.

I received a reply at another forum, saying that 'Clips' is what I require. There is a tutorial in the Maya help for it.

If it's in Maya, Just open your graph editor (GE) and under curves, control the Post-Infinity.
Usually you set Rotational channels to Cycle and Translation to Cycle with Offset (so that the character doesn't go back to where he started.)
Hope that helps.

I know one big reason why not cy7cle it. If u are doing games walkcycle it is ok to cycle. But if u want to put some character into model then u shopuld never cycle. Or at least cycle and afterwards aad some indiferences cos man cycling is so noticable.
