Hi ho all!
We're in the middle of a major project and we need to know if Character Studio 4 will work with the Shockwave3d (.w3d) exporter for max. This exporter was introduced in Max 4.2, and carries over well with Max 5.1, but that is only with Character Studio 3.x.
It has been hinted by discreet (but not confirmed) that Plasma works with Character Studio 4, but there are no confirmations as to whether the old exporter will work.

The reason for this line of questioning is we are looking to move to CS4, because basically we are sick of working without function curves in CS3.x.

IF ANYONE HAS CS4, CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM THIS ISSUE WITH ME?
If you do not have the old exporter, you can download it at:

We really need to know this, because we have to work out our software budget. Any help appreciated!! :wavey:

if your a memeber of the discreet max subscription program then you have access to the same w3d exporter that comes in plasma:

http://www.discreet.com/subscription/extensions.html

according to the information provided the new exporter will work with CS.

Sorry, CS4 arrives here sometime this week. If you still need to know, e-mail me and I will see if I can help. The best people to ask is discreet themselves. They can give you an answer much faster.
