this could be a called a little market research if anyone out there could use such a little handy plugin.
a friend of mine and I have developed a max script, where you can simulate real word water erosion on landscapes.
just displace a plane with some nice b/w pictures and the apply the script.
at this time only water erosion is calculated. we plan to enhance with wind and rubble... only to mention some eventually future features.
here a pic, bevor applying the script.

now after the script...

and with a little shading and post processing...
http://www.ixdream.com/uploads/final.jpg
basically the script look for peeks and valleys in the existing landscape (you can generate a landscape within it) and let some water run down. the water digs in and voiala.... some nice details :)
you can adjust the softness and let the script tessellate the new details to get more faces where it needs it.
the final mesh is detail depended tessellated. this means more faces where a lot of details exist.
if someone is interested in taking his hands on this script he can download it at www.ixdream.com, then left hand menu eMesh.
