Title: Environment - Minas Morgul
Name: Maximiliano Ricardo
Country: Argentina
Software: 3ds max, After Effects, Photoshop, VRay
Hi all, this is my last work. My adaptation version of Minas Morgul, (based on the classic wallpaper of LotR) Is not 100% finished, but, I like the result. I could add the sculptures on the side of the doors, but I made this mainly to practice texturing and lighting.
3dmax, vray. ps for textures. The fog is made in after effects.
Well, critics and comments are welcome, and happy new year!

Lights sets are fantastic! Just like in the movie! You know, you should make some Depth of Field effect here to make it more looking like in movie! Try to make the Witch riders, I know it`s hard but If you would do that this piece would take a place in 3D choice gallery!
Work more on compositing, make the surfaces more scrapped and add some displacement maps to your walls textures. That would be a splendid effect!
I love this piece! Really like it!

thanks a lot for the kind words guys.
Jelmer, I used a displace map and the Oren-nayar-blinn shader, it really work well for some kind of materials. Like the walls and the stones.
MN-VFX, You´r right, I forgot the DoF, I will add some at the close point of the camera. About the riders... well, it´s a good idea, but that means a lot of work, and I want to move to new works on 2007. thanks a lot for the critic, very helpful.
Also I want to say a BIG THANK to Marcel for the great site, www.cgtextures.com (http://www.cgtextures.com) , the textures on his site really help me a lot for create a base concrete and stone texture with good quality.

Good work
As a suggestion, you might want to try to composite some more blooming in the front door, seems to be too white to be emiting such a small amount of light, and maybe the light reflection in the ground could help also to make the actual perspective more clear
I agree that some dof could help
