Hi there, nice studies! It looks as if you progressed since your first couple posted pics :)
If you have photoshop or another image editor, pretty much any can do this, when you scan in your line drawings try to play around with the brightness/contrast or levels a bit to make the lines darker and not so bleached out. Then we can see them more clearly :)

Thanks Roja, unfortunately the only one I have is MSPaint (doesn't have the power of adjusting contrast and brightness)... I have been trying to set up my scanner to lower the brightness on them, but I might need to try it again...

After my Tax Return comes in... I'm buying a wacom graphire... I believe it comes with a photoshop and painter program package. so I won't have to rely only on a craptacular scanner/printer combo.

Excellent drawings! you already have what it takes to become really good, dedication. There are books that might help, but I'm not sure about where you want to go in skills.

Have you signed up for any workshops? try junior colleges, they usually have talented artists like yourself that don't have much formal training yet. I would really advise looking into that, your work has so much potential. Most of your bone work is pretty good.

you have such a strong sense of accurate perception about your drawings that I think you will be improving by leaps and bounds once you can tune in to the multitude of activities around here (like the sketchathon for example, *hinthint* ...:D )

I noticed you only have MS Paint which is as good as nothing.

free alternatives:

- Paint.net, the follow-up to MS Paint. Haven't tried it, but folks say it can actually do things now...:scream:

- GIMP www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org) (!). open-source freeware which is a bit hard to adapt, because of its non-standard window layout, but it has most of the features of professional image manipulation apps and there is also a version out there with a standardized user interface to help adaption (http://plasticbugs.com/index.php?p=241)

I've checked out the 15 min sketchathon and found it very entertaining, thanks again mu for telling me about that.

Good news; I got a tablet to play with...

But first it's time to feed this sb... The first few are those 15 mins followed by some more anatomy study, further on a more complete study of the Madonna on the Rocks II. Afterward is a good few experiments on the wacom and photoshop. The final image is my WIP of CA's COW; undead arctic creature

Hi crazy dude, lots of studies here. I like this last study of the virgin a lot, I think it looks better than the previous ones.
About your coloured pieces, in my opinion I think you use too saturated colours, especially in the background.

I apreciate the honest crit on the colors... In those I was having a transitional problem, I was still trying to treat the drawing like it was actual paint, but the color would always be max blast constantly instead of moving like what actual paint would. I've been checking out other brushes in Painter and fell in love with the Wet Brush in the Artist's Oils as well as the palette knife. I'm going to pretty much scrap that one and probably restart it after understanding the brushes some more. I don't want to consider it a failure but a steping stone in a progression into the digital mediums...

So here I have a few gallons of digital paint for everyone to endulge on (or vomit from... whatever works for you) I've been trying to use the 15 min Sketchathon as a method of quickly learning the program...

Some analog sketches... I'm going to try to go into the next set of 15 min sketches with a monochromatic setup. This would be a simmilar method that I was taught in high school painting and found it to be useful for the transition into color, I was starting to get pretty good at it when I was starting but well... Life likes to deal some bad cards in it's deck...

I know from experience that trying to withhold the imagination is impossible... something must give and allow the mind to wander a bit so that it can realign and refresh itself... This way it will be able to return back to the studies with less resistance...

NR43 - Thanks, I read somewhere that you have to go through a couple thousand crappy drawings before you actually get anything good... I think I need to do a couple thousand more... for some strange reason I keep hearing Mic saying that I'm a bum... (just kidding)

I've mostly been trying to tackle the muscles of the arm, mostly the forearm. I also got a chance to read through Vilppu's drawing manual and done a couple of sketches that involve some of his ideas about just creating the illusion of form on a page, and I done a couple of landscape drawings... (I don't know if anyone has a problem with non-anatomical stuff being in this forum but if you really think about it, we are a part of the anatomy of the earth. Sometimes I wonder if we're more like a cancer but that's for another day and probably another forum

Lots of really great stuff here Shawn,
Looking over all your work I would say the thing you could work on is the gesture of the figure. I feel perhaps you are compartmentalizing the figure to early. Start by trying to establish the pose with one line "the line of action" frome there add to this trying to obtain a clear, "complete" gesture of the pose with seven lines or so. Don't worry about this being "rubbery" with you nack for structure and form you will quickly bring the drawing back in line as you develope the forms.
