View Full Version : picking up an object
I just want to find out which is the best way to do this. I remember hearing that there is a plugin to get locators matched up perfectly for the object to be picked up and the object picking up. Is there a better way to do this in 4.5. If anyone has any animation master experience what I am referring to would be the equivalent to using compensate mode when applying a translate and orient to constraint.
Thanks for the help.
BTW if there isn't a way to do this, could someone remind me of the plugin's name.

I don't know if it is what you are searching for, but...
To make a character get an object in a hand, you can duplicate the object. The first object stay in his hand hided, on the floor the copy of this object is showed.
When the character get the object on the floor, make the first object unhided, and hide the copy.
Using this technic, you are sure the object his right in the hand.

To make a character pick up objects kan be tricky, you need to use point and aim constraints etc.
Gnomon Online got a really nice tutorial video on a similar subject.
check it out, it's a freebie video

point and orient constrain
Hi man! use the Point and Orient constrain. there is a mel script somewhere i think on gnomonvideos not sure. that will put the locators on the exact same spot. your can write down the values on a paper. there is a mel script on highend3d i think too.
