View Full Version : I need help with "Mastering Maya 3"

I have a problem with chapter 6 of this book (Mastering Maya 3), iīm starting with the modeling of a head with Nurbs Tutorial ok, but I donīt understand which tool i should use for cutting the mouth area in the nurbs sphere. please, if you have finished this chapter help me, THQ:) :) :) :)

Well, I haven't seen that chapter (or the book for that matter), but I am almost sure that by 'cutting' they refer to 'detaching' the surfaces.
Right mouse click (and hold) on top of the nurbs surface and select 'Isoparms'. This will turn the surface to a light blue wireframe. These are Isoparms. Select (by clicking on it) the Isoparm (the line) where the surface has to be cut, this isoparm will turn yellow indicating it is selected. In the 'Modeling' menu set, go to 'Edit Nurbs/Detach Surface'. Now you will end up with two separate surfaces, cutted at the place where you did the isoparm selection. Delete the extra one, and you're done.

many thanqs luminis for your reply :thumbsup: , but with this process only achieves separated in 2 surface the sphere and i want to delete only 2 curves of the suface and the sphere complete, i donīt know if iīve explained fine, well, i enclose a screenshot of my problem. (its an example of i hope to do)
2 Question: How can i delete one of the face in the nurbs sphere????? because with delete/supr doesnīt work.

i think you are looking for the "trim" tool..
(make a sphere, project the curves on it and then trim what you dont want)
