Any ideas as to why this prevents Maya from loading ?

// Error: Object's name is not unique: Shelf2a01320 //
// Error: Could not create command port : tom:7845 //

It runs the load screen (the one with the tatooed bloke), then this pops up in the Script Editor.

hhmm i had to uninstall it ... this occured just after that i swithed DSL to cable modem ... it must be something to do with the Port that Maya is installed on ...

It turned out i had to re-install also. It works fine again now.

I had this problem !!! I just reinstalled Maya and that's all !!!
