For earth itself i would use a couple of spheres. One for earth texture(u can get it from NASA website), one for clouds texture(may be animated textute), one for other layer of clouds one for glow e.t.c.
If you want animate object which spinning around the planet, simple group this object to itself, than place the pivot of this group to center of the planet, and animate rotation along needed axis.
Thats all.
For inspiration look trailer for upcoming movie Transformers.

Would this would be an ok texture?
Also, what would be the alternative, I'm probably asking for a more harder way to achieve this, but I'm just curious.
Thank you, again.

I think yes, if you have appropriate resolution, but it depends how close will be your camera. You can also use this texture for bump or displacement map, for more detailed look.

Would you suggest any specific texture? Also, I was just wondering, have you created a planet before?

I don't have any specific texture, you can use this one nice resolution and quality.

Yes I created planet at my previous work, but it was Mars.

I've currently used the one I posted in my previous post, those ones you have posted don't open up for me...?

Try right-click->Save target As...
Works well for me.

Any tips on creating a realistic Earth? Does the one from Enterprise look realistic in any sense? There are no stars, which is realistic.
These i searched up, they have their slight differences, whether their real or not.:rolleyes:

In the end, I didn't animate it. It's not anything special, trying to get it like the one I first post, the way the clouds are dispersed is tricky.
