CGTalk - Texturing instanced objs in Shave & Haircut

Here's my problem:
I wish to know if there is a way to modulate the hue and other pararmeters (for example "root" and "tip" color) of instanced objs in Shave & Haircut.
I can only assign the same shader for all the instances...
