View Full Version : WIP: Woody
EricCartman 02-17-2003, 10:56 AM 2 days work. Your comments are welcome :)
Last rendering (wood texture) is just a test. I am new to modeling, rendering... well I am new to everything so I am sure the is a lot to improve here.
I am gonna try and do the head today, but since I haven't modelled a head before, it could take a while.
While I am at it, does anyone know a good tutorial about animating. I tryed using bones but I didn't know how to attach bones to a certain object (like foot...).
Take care.

I just started using 3d Max 5.0 so I think I will do it here (if I figure out the bones) :)

I like it, but I liked the stylized color version, as apposed to the boring wood texture :hmm:
not much on the side of critquites..there are some but yeh not really in that mood suggestion tho-
To the above comment have you thought about the possiblitly of painted wood more on the side of pinnocio (excuse spelling)

Like I said before, I am completly new to 3D. I don't know squat about textures and stuff. But I am learning every day. I am doing this coz we will do a flash game at work where this character will be painting something. So my idea is to make it with a paintbrush in his hand and a bit of color splattered all over him.
We'll see.

I finished the head and put all the parts together...
Don't know what to do next... should I tackle the texturing or bones & animation.
Any suggestions...

i would probably want to animate first. if you have texture on and if you keep adding things its going to slow down the animation process. Is your model mesh smoothed?, if it is you should delete.
you can do the mesh smooth after the rigging and animation.
If you are going to animate him I think it would help you to split up that lower body part in two and make the join a rotating one so that he can turn around...otherwise he will be very stiff when turning.
I like it thou...its got character already.

Here is the walk cycle animation.
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/walk.avi
DivX 5.0.2 required.
This is my first model and animation, so don't be too hard with criticism :)
I also have a question. I am using 3D Max 5.1 and I was wondering, how would one go about making the red paint in the bucket to move like liquid?
And a still....

one suggestion to this character is that you should exaggerate his arm movement, his arm swing a little. also you might want to animate his head movement also. Its to stationary.
