Title: Vespa
Name: Jure Zagoricnik
Country: Slovenia
Software: 3ds max, VRay

I started modeling Vespa for a challenge called Motomania but never finished it in time. It's done now. Textures done in Macromedia Flash (yeah, I know it's strange) and rendered in Vray.

Note: image might look a bit dark on some monitors.

Nice and clean work, congrats!

There ain't nothing strange about using Flash. In fact, there's no better way to make such textures but using vector graphics, unless you want to paint all those curves yourself.

It don't look dark at all.

Great modeling and rendering(Really fresh & clean:)),
impressive level of details, nice work with headlights too.
Picture is a bit darker on my monitor actually...but Vespa still looks great.

This looks incredible. I hope that once I'm done with some of those hard-surface tutorials I'll be able to model even close to that ;)

Did you use any training to help you?

EricCartman
12-28-2006, 08:47 AM
Thanks for the nice comments. And no, I didn't have any training. I started doing 3D 3 years ago just for fun and I am still doing it. If I get a freelance job so much better but basicly 3D is just a hobby for me.

Wow, It looks so real. The sharpness of the reflections on the paint look like you waxed it in Max then buffed it to a shine in VRay. Thanks for posting a image of the mesh with the wire frame. Excellent control of polygon count and flowing mesh lines!

Really like your model, nice and clean geometry... the textures are nice too... looks like it has a fresh coat of paint and on display at the dealership ready for purchase. Flash is great for vector work, and it obviously worked for you, so whatever gets the job done... It would be cool to see some other views as well as a few close ups to really show off what you did. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work...

Awesome stuff mate! I always wanted to model a vespa....maybe someday  One small critic and its very minor is that the side cowl is held down by the little "knob" like thing. There is a small metal extrusion on the cowl and this "knob" holds it down. Very minor but just a thought.....

Textures done in Flash. Well that's definitely different. You should write a tutorial on using Flash for texture creation. It seems to work really well. Awesome job!
