Title: "The non-seller" / Interior Illustration
Name: Björn Wirtz
Country: Germany
Software: Photoshop

Hi all,
this is an illustration for the short story "The non-seller" ("Der Ladenhüter") that will be published in an upcoming SF/Fantasy magazine. My approach to this painting was a bit different than usual as i chose to build a very rough 3d blockmodel to aid me with the difficult wide angle 3 point perspective. If i'm honest, it was tricky anyway in some parts because i changed the layout in some places later. The rough model was then used as a guide in Photoshop. Well, that's pretty much it, otherwise i've not used any photoelements, everything is handpainted, mostly with 4-5 custombrushes. Adding all those little details was a hell lot of fun, that's why i'd like to show you some of them up close below. I hop you like the painting and take the time to comment and/or crit. Thanks.

Hey, glad you both like my new work.
@EhsanD: now that's really a special compliment for me, thanks!

I think i forgot to say that the image had to be in black and white, that also was a bit challenging for me because i just love to play with colours.
And there went something wrong with the detail pictures, here's another try at posting them.

i like the composition of this piece, and also the black and white lighting tune. It is my view that tune the color to a little bit brown would more nice because this color would represent the timming and mood of your piece! :)

Great work, man. Well done with the details and the overall composition. The light and the way it hits the furniture is really captivating and the volume light is the "créme de la créme"...

Thanks all for the nice comments, i am really glad that i could master that challenge and you like it. Thanks for the stars, too.

@ Purehay: Thanks for your suggestion, i would have coloured it in a way but the magazine is printed in black and white, that's why it is like that. But i am thinking about colouring it later. Might be some fun sor sure.

Now i would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas! Have a good time!

Thanks again for commenting! @ hokin: I'm sorry but i can't really say how long it took but it was roughly one day for the preparation, making sketches, researching references, building the 3d block and testing out perspectives and then about 2 days for the final painting.
