I was just on the NaturalPoint website--they make inexpensive usb mocap cameras (about $300/per and they say you should have 6, but can get away with as few as 3)--but it looks like they're finally planning to offer the software to run them. Presently you have to write your own mocap software to work with the cameras, but they're saying they'll offer a software interface for full-body mocap in Spring 2007. Provided they don't really gouge us for this new app (or even give it free??), there could be a full mocap solution for independent animators for under $2000! Check out the site, and let them know you're interested!

Wow. Looking good so far from what I have seen. I hope they finally come up with a decent and affordable mocap solution for the small studios and freelancers. It is long overdue, I must say.
