View Full Version : WWII Jeep
A MacVey 02-17-2003, 02:24 AM Im working on a WWII jeep in the 3dtk from dvgarage(not the best modeler). The biggest problem with the toolkit is that it is nearly impossible sometimes to bevel certain edges because of some error. So please ignore the lack of bevels on some parts of the model.
THis is basic shape of the jeep before i go onto the details. The seem and spaces have been removed. Are there any crits so far?
Also please ignore my crappy light set up that was an unsuccessful test at a fake light dome in EI

Well, the mesh seems quite messy. The shaded view is a good begining though. Keep going!

KnightVFX- Thanks! im going to keep trying to do my best on this
Eman597-Yes, i noticed that too. Im modeling in the 3dtk version of Electric Image. I'm not sure if it has the capability to smooth or not. THat is one spot where that blasted error comes up allowing me not to bevel
Talos-Nope this int no pre-made model. But what do you mean everything is trianglated?
Anyways here is a small update with better lighting and the start of the steering wheel and the window

don t model with booleans, you can t obtain good results and control with this method...

talos- Im pretty sure EI uses tri
garyturner- ok, I'm trying to model less with booleans and more with lofting, and revolving(lathing for those max users out there). Most of this model isn't booleaned though, its mostly been cut using EI's knife tool with nurbs curves
now for a call to the public: Would anyone happen to have some ref pictures of a jeeps seat? the only one i have is of the back of it.

ok here are the tires. It shows i still need a bunch of work to this model. yes the back tires are smaller than the front because of my bad job at considering them with i cut the back space out. Ill figure something out to make em look more even. So what do you think of the brand spakin new tires?
Man i thought i figured out that polygonal thing in the back, in one test it fixed it but now its not working, hmmm
