I think I might have confused some of you with my last post about rotating about an edge.

So I think this will be clearer.
How do I go about aligning the pivot of an object with a face normal?? I want the y-axis of my pivot to lie on the same plane as one of the faces.
I tried doing "Normal Align" but the the pivot does not change orientation.

Is there another way of doing this... The only way i can do it is manually, but i want a precise Alignment for my rotation.

I hope this helps.

Thanks again.

Just a quick off-the-top-of-my-head workaround: Make a box or whatnot, normal align it to a face. Select object with the pivot you want aligned, and using the standard align tool align to the box.

Lame? Yes, I suppose in a way. But at least it would work.

Is-boset: yes I have used the pivot options from the heirarchy. But they do not seem to align the local pivot to the face.

Gaggle: I'll try what you suggested tonight.

If that doesn't work, I'll just adjust it manually. and live with the results.

Thanks a lot guys.
