View Full Version : Creating blurred material without blurry reflections?
StefanAlbertz 12-22-2006, 03:21 PM In animation calculating blurry reflections by using raytracing gives a pain in rendertime :-/ so in my actual project i have to drop back to other methods, but after some tries with blurred environment reflections, i would like to ask for HELP :)
any suggestions creating metallic surfaces without useage of blurry raytracing reflections are welcome!

You could render a panorama of the scene (if you're reflecting 3D geometry, otherwise do this to your enviroment map) and set it up as a reflection map. Set your material to reflect only that map. Load the map in photoshop and blur to taste.
Voila, cheap blurred reflection.
