here's some lowpoly models, i've made this week.

made just for fun, but i've kept them really lowpoly, so they could be used in either DS or cellphone games.

comments are very welcome.

haha awesome man, these are really cool. my favourite is probably the plane. cant believe you got all this detail from such low poly models and such tiny textures. would love to see some more of these, keep up the good work man :)

great stuff,
nice texture , UV and modeling discipline!

just commenting with some friends at work, u could get away with a little more detail if you wanted in some area, (though it may blemish the cleanly style, its still an option)
example

im sure you get the idea of exactly what im saying.
but you can cut the roof about 8 more polys, add some subtleties to half that space like shingles or something, the other 1/3 can be the chimney shadow piece.
actually you could have the uv line split in teh middle for the chimney shadow, doh i didnt think of that till now

Nice work. Now that's squeezing the most out of your textures!

Great models. I love the little spaceship, the cockpit reminds me of the ship from R-Type. :D

thanks all :)

mindrot:
hehe yeah 8bit 3d seems like a good description for it.

Jerkazoid:
thanks, yeah i was actually thinking about adding a shadow for the chimney, but i had this idea, i wanted the house to be exactly 50 poly, so i decided not to.

glad you like the kid icarus mockup :)

FreakyDude: thanks :)

here's a girl i've been working on today, still wip, need to texture her hair, and maybe try to optimize here a little bit more.

http://kennethfejer.dk/images/lowpoly_girl.png

she's kind of inspired by the characters in the new final fantasy chronicles DS game, they look amazing, so i wanted to see, if i could create a low poly character similar to those.

Awesome models and the girl is really cute :D One question, what do you use to do the turn around gifs? Any special program or...? Interesting colour schemes you use on the house/ship/heli too btw

Tennis (or any other lowpoly expert), would starting off with lowpoly work be the best way to get into learning how to map textures, especially for complex shapes like characters?

Tennis (or any other lowpoly expert), would starting off with lowpoly work be the best way to get into learning how to map textures, especially for complex shapes like characters? While I wouldn't classify myself as an expert by any means, I'd certainly say that doing ultra-low-poly stuff like this helps with your UV mapping and texture painting skills. It forces you to minimize (or sometimes maximize for certain effects) stretching to the greatest possible extent and also ensures that you're aware of literally every single pixel in your texture, and those things really help when you're doing higher-poly stuff or larger and more detailed textures.

Very cute and lovely works. They remind me of FF3 on DS and the new Wii SIMs.

thanks for the comments :)
haven't had time to do any more work, but will hopefully post an update later this week.

urgaffel:
thanks :)
i use Gif movie gear (http://www.gamani.com/), it has all the options, you'll ever need.
i highly recommend it :)

justchris:
i agree with what swizzle said.
low poly is a good place to start, just for the fact that its a simpler mesh.

You may have not used the whole texture, but that's better, isn't it? You can probably use the extra space to give some accessories to the girl. A bag or backpack would be nice :)

wow, unusual to see mobile 3d art here on cg talk ;) Great work. It really inspires me cause i got to work most of my time doing DS graph content! Especially I love helicopter and jet craft.
