View Full Version : Alien Guard
MissFlesh 12-21-2006, 06:47 AM This is a Gaurd for an image im working on. I'm gonna place loads of similar guards around eachother, to form an army.
But now as I've just been drawing "blindly" and I see the dress.. I dont really like the folds I got there, and I tried to find some similar refernce but I coudnt find any, so I thought I could as for help here.
How can I make the folds of the blowing dress look better?

(Gah, meant to comment on this yesterday, but got distracted!)
I don't really know how to improve the folds per se, but I'm fairly sure you could improve the effect if you made the right side of the dress go down in a curve, not vertically. Something like this:

(Forgive me for the wobbly lines. I just woke up.)
To me the folds themselves are pretty good. The only thing on the dress that looks a bit off to me is the way it flows, with the end being almost vertical instead of curve. I don't know if you meant the dress to be asymetric like that, thought. If you did, then please ignore me.:)

Thank alot, it helped me. I made the flow a bit less vertical.

That looks much better to me. I don't have anything else to point out.:)
I don't know if it will disturb you or other viewers, but I think the speer being in front of the face will bother me.
What if you slightly alter the angle? Just make sure he is looking into the image.

I agree with the idea of slightly angling the spear would be a nice touch. i think it would add weight to the picture...great job so far!
