I have just finished rigging a robot i have created for a short animation and have come across a problem with the bones,
When i move the whole body the bones stay where they are and then when the legs are move to animate they sort of snap back to the bone so it looks like the leg has fallen off!
This happens with the arms and head, there must be a way for the bones to stay attached to the mesh?
Anyone know how to get this to work?
Thanks in advance.

Er, are you moving the mesh itself?
Maybe a picture would help us help you, there are many variables that goes into troubleshooting rig-issues.

I created the bones for the arms and legs and head seperate from the main body mesh but have not created bones for the body mesh because i thought i could just move the mesh without using bones but obviously i was wrong il do that now and see if it works, thanks for pointing out a simple mistake to me.

Did you figure it out? I couldn't tell from the jpeg what the problem was exactly. Are you rigid binding some of your bones with the skin modifier?

Iv sorta figured it out, im trying to get it to walk so the only way iv figured out to do it is select everything then move it foward a little then animimate the legs after iv moved everything which takes ages but its the only way i can do it i think, i just added the bones to the skin modifier and edited the envelopes to fit the mesh, any other way to do it?
